Moldovan wines' export to China on rise

A significant rise in Moldovan farming goods export to China has been recorded over the past years. Wines prevail among exported products. Statements to this effect were made at a meeting between Agriculture Minister Vasile Bumacov and Chinese Deputy Agriculture Minister Chen Xiaohua, within a visit to China.

The officials said the positive trend is backed by the authorities of both sides, and is in line both with the strategy of consumption stimulation, promoted by the Chinese side, and via efforts to diversify sales markets, taken by the Moldovan side. Not only the turnovers increased, but also the confidence of the sides was enhanced, according to the Agriculture Ministry's press service.

The Chinese government backs the promotion of Moldovan quality wines on the Chinese market. To successfully carry out this process, the two states' control institutions will cooperate to ensure the quality of Moldovan wines.

Vasile Bumacov welcomed the presentation of more Moldovan-Chinese business projects, that acquire special attractiveness in the context of a quick development of Moldova's status towards the European Union, and the trade preferences of the country both with the EU and the Commonwealth of Independent States countries. Bumacov returned to Chisinau, after holding more meetings with Chinese importers of Moldovan wines and officials of the Chinese authorities in charge of checking food products' quality.

Moldovan wine appreciated in China

Moldovan wines are increasingly in demand on the Chinese market. If in 2009 the alcoholic beverages produced in Moldova, were sold in China in the amount approximately $ 380,000, while in 2010 this index reached $ 2 million 200,000, BASA – press reports.

 

These figures were made public at a meeting of Agriculture and Food Industry Minister, Vasile Bumacov with local wine makers and representatives of the Chinese company Beijing Kindsku Trading Company, appointed by the Ministry of Commerce of China to import wine from Moldova.

 

This company intends to promote Moldovan wines on the Chinese market at the Chengdu International Exhibition to be held on 12 March 2011. The delegation, which also includes an oenologist, selects now wines for the exhibition and possible import.

 

China’s Ambassador to Moldova, Fang Li said the consumption of Moldovan wines and cognacs in China increased in September 2010. A number of contracts were signed for the supply of alcoholic products on Chinese market. The ambassador stated that 15 containers of Moldovan wines to be transported to China for New Year’s Eve celebrated in China in the Oriental style on 3 February, BASA – press reports.

German Chancellor receives 460 bottles of collection wines from Moldovan authorities

The first visit to Moldova, which German Chancellor Angela Merkel paid on August 22, on the invitation of Moldovan Prime Minister Vladimir Filat, ended up on Wednesday night, with an excursion to the Cricova wine cellars. 

According to the Government’s press service, the high-ranking official visited the famous Moldovan wine cellars together with Prime Minister Vlad Filat. At the end of the visit, the leadership of the Cricova winery offered to the German Chancellor 460 bottles of collection wines, such as Cabernet, Codru, Traminer, Cahor, Marsala and Gratiesti. 

Yet, the bottles will be kept in the Cricova wine cellars in a special niche. At the request of the German Chancellor, the bottles will be delivered to her any time. This practice has been used by Cricova for many years, being also adopted by many famous personalities, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has his niche with Moldovan wines there.

After the excursion in the underground wine emporium she put down a message in the book of honored guests and then left for Germany, from the Chisinau International Airport.

Wine producers from Moldova hope to export wine to USA

Moldova hopes to supply wine goods to the United States of America.

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova Viorel Gutu, in order to learn about the trade’s specific character in this country, a Moldovan delegation of wine producers and representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) visited it recently.“Representatives of 9 wine companies, including Vinaria Purcari, Chateau Vartely, Lion Gri, Agro-vin Bulboaca and Salcuta, visited the U.S.A. They visited profiled exhibitions, learned the market, prices, communicated with colleagues from the U.S. and other countries”, Gutu said.According to him, the wine producers got advices from largest marketing and consulting companies of the U.S.A.“The wine producers learned about the process of wines production, promotion and trading. It impressed us a lot the manner of talk with clients, as well as the respect that profiled companies enjoy of clients. We hope that we will be able too to export wine goods to the United States”, Gutu said.In the end of this week, the MoA will hold an enlarged session of the wine promotion council to consider the Moldovan wines popularization and exports to the U.S. market. U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Asif Chaudhry will also participate in the meeting.

150 million euros to make wine from Moldova richer, and the road straight

European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova, occupying the country 150 million euros. The money republic uses to finance the program provides for repair of roads, as well as for the development of viticulture and winemaking sector.

The loan agreement by the European Investment Bank, Moldova signed the Regional Director for Eastern Europe, EIB Sinodino Constantine and Prime Minister Filat. Moreover, the latter pointed out that the whole of Moldova plans to repair the 93.6 km of roads. Work on the implementation of this program should begin next year and be completed in 2014.Also, project financing and the money will help the Bank. It will provide Moldova with 75 million euros.The second part of the money allocated for viticulture and wine sector, in particular for the repair and equipping of laboratories that test the quality of wine, the establishment of centers for training, as well as the purchase of production equipment and the provision of a lease of winemaking, and finally on-lending by commercial banks companies viticulture and wine sector, as well as many other important tasks for this sector.It is important to note that the EIB has provided Moldova with road repairs for a period of 18 years (suspended for 5 years) under 3% per annum. But the second loan, allocated by this bank under a wine sector is granted for a term of 12 years (suspended for 4 years) by the same percentage.
